    White iPhone discoloration

Chances are the shield may be the thing that’s discolored since it touches your face more than the back. I have some clear vinyl covers on my MBP and the wrist rest part has gotten a brown tint since my arms touch it. Same with the trackpad and button. They’re both covered but are slightly...

    What was your first Mac?

If modern Mac programs are like iPhone apps, they are written in Objective C which is Apple’s version of C. It adds extensions and syntax structures to make C more object oriented.

    What was your first Mac?

I worked for Hayes Microcomputer Products. They made modems so I worked on communications software (called Smartcom) and a very short lived database utility called Please. We also made the first internal modem for Macs when Apple created a model that had slots like a PC. I did an app for that...

    What was your first Mac?

I was a Mac developer back in the mid 80s so my first was the original Mac Classic (128K) then I upgraded it to a Fat Mac (512K). I think it originally cost $2500. Good times, good times.

    everythingiCafe Podcast

Chris, I think the podcast is great! You and Marianne make an excellent team. I used to listen to bunches of podcasts but gave up on all of them a couple of years ago. Now this one is the only one I subscribe to. I particularly like "Teh Awesome” section since it gives me good ideas about what...

    4.2 Beta 3 SMS tones

Agreed! They're about 5 seconds long and pretty lame. Maybe someone thought they needed to be longer because people said they couldn't hear the original tone due to it being short. I hope they let us create our own. And another thing that bugs me but it may be a beta thing...picking them on the...

    New nano

I was but not on the device itself, at least not up next to the battery symbol at the top of the screen I think the only place I saw it was either in iTunes or in the About screen. I returned it a couple of weeks ago so I can't remember exactly where I saw it.

    What the fudge?

An episode of the Comedy Central show Tosh.0 featured that video and brought in the guy running around saying “Lightening bolt!” for an interview/reenactment. In fact, if you want to see a completely WTF kind-of show, Tosh.0 is it.

    New nano

I picked one up yesterday, a 16GB Graphite and while I was initially impressed with it, I’m starting to consider returning it. The touch screen is neat but the battery life is horrible. They claim 24 hours of audio playback but that’s if you only turn the display on to start the music then...
