Is the extra 16gb really worth $100 extra. It was kinda brought to my attention that with the hd video & camera that the iPhone 4 would use more space. Is it really a significant amount or just slightly more. I've had my 3GS about 6 months & have about 12gb of space left.

I decided to go with the 32GB after upgrading from an 8GB. I probably would have gone 64GB, if available. It's almost always cheaper in the long run to "buy in bulk." Plus, you'll never know when you may need that extra space. So many times, I've been in situations with my 8GB where I want to take pics and/or capture audio but couldn't do so due to space constraints. By the time I freed up a little space via erasing pics, the precious moment that I wanted to capture had passed. Extremely awful feeling.

really it depends on you..
my wife has had her 8g 3G since it came out.
she has almost 6gigs free. she doesn't use it for music.
it really depends upon the user

1. Pictures are almost 2x larger than a 3GS
2. Videos are about 3x larger than a 3GS
3. "HD" apps, when they come out, will be larger
4. $100 invested in more memory now will come back nearly 1:1 when it comes time to sell it. Especially considering a 64GB iPhone 5 is likely coming next.

I bought my 3GS (my first smartphone) on a whim and the 16 gig was the best I could afford at that time and I always felt like I didn't have enough space. I upgraded to 32 when I got my 4 and am very happy with it.

I plan on holding onto mine for the next two years and currently have already used about half of the 32 gb capacity. I am pretty sure that I will need the extra space for the digital garbage I will accumulate over that time period.

I went from a 16gb 3G to a 32gb iPhone 4 thinking "oh, that'll be plenty of space". A week later and I only have 3gb left. Go bigger!

I'm banking on a 64gb iPhone 4 later in the year, with a 128gb iPhone 5. Then I can make my dad upgrade and give him mine.

I am going to revive this thread briefly. I just got my iPhone 4 two weeks ago so still have some time on my 30 days. I am considering returning for the 32GB. I went to the store with the intention of buying the 32GB and the AT&T guy talked me into the 16GB more for cost savings than anything. He said I would be hard pressed to fill it up with pics and video. I carry an Ipod classic with me most everywhere due to the size of my music collection and my need to have variety. Question here is, does anyone know how big the picture file size and say 1 minute of video recording takes up on the iPhone 4? Also does the video record size stay proportionate for longer video's?

Well I seem to be in the minority here, but im perfectly happy with the 16. Increasingly ive noticed that im streaming rather than saving (pandora, netflix, audible and so forth). The more i do this the more im realizing that, for me, the phone performs as a data delivery device, rather than a data storage device. So i have no need for 32g's, or 64 for that matter. Course, i have the older and more generous data plan to rely on, which helps.

I can def see why people get 32 but it's my first iPhone and I have 53 apps, a bunch of videos/pics and 200 songs but I use pandora a ton. I've used 3 gigs and 11 left. Plus I can add and subtract music if I really need to and put my pics and video on Facebook. I plan on always getting the newest iPhone too so I can upgrade gigs if i want. So it's not worth it to me now. **** 8 gigs would be enough. I think its different for people who have had iPhones before. Also my aunt and uncle have iPhones and use maybe 2 gigs ever. I can't imagine using more than 16 but depends on you.

If you can afford, then go for 32GB...you won't regret it later!

I'm pretty happy with my 16gb. I don't even have it filled half way. I use my ipod classic for most of my music.

I was going to get the 32gb but i thought about it. I have an ipad so do i really need all my movies on the iPhone no. All my music no. Just some of both and keep the bulk on the ipad. Best of both worlds. Thought about returning for the 32gb for $hits and giggles but don't want to end up with proximity sensor issues like the 1st one i had so keeping the one i have thats working great.
