OK, so I went online to look at my first AT & T bill, it is $157.67! I ordered the $59.99 plan... so with activation I get about $100....what is the other $57? Hidden costs they didn't tell us about? Any idea? Anyone else check their bill yet?

I believe they charge you for the first and last month's wireless fees. So in the future if you decide to cancel your service, you wouldn't have to pay that last bill because you've already covered it in the initial payment.

That's what I've been told.

Thanks, it could be the fist and last bill, just as long as it isn't tht every month, love the phone, but not for that monthly cost!

Check your local fees and taxes. They are extremely high where I live. Also, like other members have mentioned you first bill is prorated. Welcome to AT&T :)

I also got the $59.99 plan and my first bill is only $109 and change. I also kept just the 200 text message plan.

Probably billing you a month in advance and prorating you for last month. Plus, the taxes and service charges and the activation charge.
Bingo. That's what I'm thinking. I can't wait to see my bill. Seeing how I know my plan runs from the 10th of the month to the 9th and I bought the phone on the 29th, it should make for some interesting prorating. In theory, i should probably only get charged for like 1/3 of the data plan for this cycle. I doubt it though.

Mine's at $153, I got the $79.99 plan with an extra $10 for 1500 texts, plus the $36 activation fee, plus taxes and fees, sounds about right. How come some people got double billed for the first month and I didn't?

Current AT&t customer

1. no activation fee on this past bill (at least not yet)
2. no discount on either voice or data plan (as expected)
3. with prorate my bill was $73.84. (39.99 calling plan/20 data plan)

4. All my rollover minutes are still intact. No changes there.
