I have been thinking about developing for the iPhone for some time now but haven't really had any ideas for apps or the skills (I'm still new to this stuff) so there was no point in me paying the $100 fee if I was just messing around in xcode.
It seems there are a lot of people that want to beta test 3.0 so this poll is just to find out how many would do it. Then the fee might help out a lot of you guys. Vote now and it will help me decide.

My advice: It's a lot of hassle and trouble just to try this stuff out 3 months early. I'm excited about it too and every bit the supergeek myself, but I couldn't be arsed to go through all the effort. Kudos to those that do and report to the forums, but it's a lot of effort. You have to weigh the reality of that for your situation.

Yeah I do, and hopefully this poll will help me decide. I was gonna wait until summer to register so I could have time to start developing apps, but the 3.0 beta seems to get everyone worked up right now, so maybe this is a better time.

I thought about it and then heard the horrors of waiting for months to be approved. I'll just wait like everyone else.

I've heard from several people in the past 24 hours of it only taking like an hour to get approved... Maybe with 2.0 it took months but 3.0 seems to be happening very quickly

Yeah it doesn't take that long now. Up10ad got in just today I think.

They seem to be opening the floodgates for some... strange... reason...?

The other part I don't get is the agreement that you wont distribute the software. How will you get people to help you beta test then? Everyone is saying developers can register a certain amount of phones to help beta test under that account.

Well hey now, the poll asks about beta testing but you are asking about actually developing apps for it. To hell with developing. I'd beta test but I have no interest in coding.

Scratch that. I'm doing it as I type this. :p

It's really not that difficult at all if you know a developer.

I didn't ask you to develop apps lol. I said in the future, I will eventually.
