It never going to be as good, battery life wise, as the 4. Seeing the 4s has a faster processor it will use more battery, period.
yes, but doesn't it also have a bigger battery?

It's slightly bigger.

iPhone 4 battery is 1420mAh
iPhone 4S battery is 1432mAh
Not much more power at all really.

Oh yes, yer right. I thought it was quite a bit larger considering the claimed battery life is substantially longer.

Edit...seems they have edited the tech specs for the 4S. Seems more in line now considering what you said. Actually lists the 4S with lower standby time than the 4 now. It used to be higher.

I did the 5.0.1 update the second it was available hoping for better battery. Made zero difference.

Currently at 4 hours, 2 min usage and 11 hours, 23 minutes standby and am at 74%

Regardless of what Rugaby or chazm says or thinks, I know what my phone was doing and this is way better. No idea why. Don't really care. Still not as good as my 4 was though.
4.2 hours usage and at 74%? You should have taken a screen shot. That's gotta be a record. You sure you didn't plug it in just a little bit?

Now that you mention it, it may have gotten plugged in to one of my students' computer to transfer a video. 5 or 10 minutes at the most though. Use wasn't talk though. Use was shooting video.
