I have jailbroken my device many times and asked before on this forum if that was OK. everyone said not to worry. so i recently unjailbroke again to see if there was any difference in battery life, etc. I determined there was not and jailbroke again. I restored the iPhone back to 3.0 using an IPSW I had/found, then set up as a new iPhone in iTunes. I then, within iTunes, updated to 3.0.1. and jailbroke using redsn0w .08. at some point after it completed and I was playing with the phone, the device went to th Apple boot screen, then the screen went black. nothing would cure it other than another unjailbreak. I really want it jb again so did I do something wrong? I am pretty familiar with the process and have done it successfuly mny times. Perhaps I was using an IPSW that was corrupted somehow? Perhaps, if you think that's the case, someone can poiint me to an IPSW and copy of redsn0w that is 100% stable? Thanks.

That's what you get for doing that. It's not supposed to be jailbroken. No sympathy..

You can download the 3.0 FW here:

http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...090617.LlI87/iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

You can download the 3.0.1 FW (if you haven't already got it) here:

http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...0731.Vgbt5/iPhone2,1_3.0.1_7A400_Restore.ipsw

You can download the latest version of Redsn0w here:

http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

After clicking this link, look to the left of the screen <------------ and you will see the Link for Redsn0w there.

Enjoy.

EDIT: make sure you use Firefox to download these or something similar, as Safari will download it as a zip file.

I doubt the problem is redsn0w or the IPSW file. If those files are corrupt, the jailbreaking process will fail. IMO, it is much more likely to something you have installed in Cydia, either an app or a theme that is not compatible with the 3x FW.

Try jailbreaking again and running it for a day or so with no Cydia apps or themes at all. If it runs fine, run it for a while between each new app your install. That way you can isolate what's causing the problem.

Are you restoring from backups?
