I am wondering if anyone has lost the ability to use AirPlay on their original first gen iPad. I am not referring to the ability to mirror. I realize that mirroring is only possible on the second gen iPad.

Before updating to iOS 5 I was able to post video along with other content from my iPad onto my tv through Apple TV and AirPlay. The airplay icon no longer appears as it did before. If anyone has experienced this have you been able to bring it back? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank You.

Have you tried rebooting? Try a hard reset if a reboot doesn't fix it.

Yes I've tried rebooting many times with no change. What do you do to hard boot?

    Thank you for your suggestion.

You can enable mirroring on the iPad 1. You don't even need to jailbreak, however you will need to run Redsn0w ;)

A hard-reset it done by holding down both the home and power buttons at the same time. Release both buttons when you see the white Apple logo, then wait for the iPad to boot normally.

    Yes iPhonewarrior.

All software is up to date - on Apple TV 2 and the iPad.

Thank you again for your suggestions.

Have you double clicked your home button and swiped left and tapped the AirPlay icon to enable?

iPhonewarrior I do not see an icon for AirPlay when I swipe to see all the icons after double clicking on the home button. I do however see an icon for Apple remote. Are you referring to that?

Do you have the AirPlay icon in your multitasking bar?

No iPhonewarrior. The airplay Icon used to show up on most media content such as movies and music and I was able to use it with no problem but since the last two previous updates it all went away. I'm dumbfounded.

    I do appreciate your suggestions.

    Thank you again.

Unplug the ATV 2 and then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, reset the settings on the ATV 2.

Just tried restarting with no luck. I know resetting will put me in a situation to re-enter user name and passwords for various services I have and will have to look those up before I do this. Once I have this info in hand I will reset and let you know what happens.

    Thank you Europa.

iPhonewarrior and Europa thank you for your help. I managed to get AirPlay working again. It's very odd in the manner in which it works. My signal is sent from my Airport Extreme base station to Apple TV wirelessly. I am hardwired from my modem to my computer. I find that turning airport on slows down my internet signal so I leave it off on my computer. While fiddling around this morning I noticed after turning airport on, on my computer somehow made it possible for AirPlay to work again. Perhaps the problem has something to do with the TCP settings. They are set to automatic on Apple TV.

Anyway thank you again for your help. It was much appreciated.

    Best regards
