Interesting, looks like they just edit the plist file and change the 15 to whatever value is desired. As most of you know, there are easier ways to modify a plist file, even with a mac, so it should ben easy change. They also say that they see no reduction in battery life; I wonder what others will say, post your experiences if you make the change.

This is not push email in the slightest.....the point of push email is to save the mobile device's battery....this just sets it to check every five min or whatever you specify....still just pull email.

That's absolutely true. Using the proper technical definition, this is not push at all, there's no continuous polling etc. My reason for leaving the thread title similar to the BGR post title is that I think for the vast majority of users, the technical definitions don't matter much - they just want their email set to retrieve very frequently / continuously.

This is not only not even close to push email, it's a battery killer.

Totally agree. Anyone who has ever used a BB knows this is BS. No offense to the original poster as you are only trying to help.

When the iPhone does REAL push email and Jive Talk'ish (aggregator) IM.. it will be the real deal Holyfield phone IMO.

Just to clarify BB is not true push email....all it does is when you receive a new email...say to your gmail account, gmail notifies and sends a copy to the blackberry servers which send a copy to your BB handset. Not technically push email but the consumer in general would never notice the difference.

The BB does not have to poll as the email is pushed to the handset. If Blackberry doesn't have push email then....

I work in the industry and have had countless BBs. BB is push email.

per your post above.. "sends copy to the BB servers...sends copy to your BB" that "sending" is push and not interval-based polling.

Email on the BB is as fast as IM as the mail is pushed to the handset and is not based on the handset having to check for updates at certain intervals.
