I bought my 8GB 17 days ago for the full price of $599. If had known about the price drop I would have definitely wait. I realize that prices usually go down, but it definitely stings. Anyone else upset?

Yeah and only two months later too, completely unexpected. It's like rewarding all the fence sitters and punishing the early adopters. Those money hungry bastards, they didn't need to sell it for that much on iDay, they just knew all the true Apple fans would have spent that much.

They took advantage of us.

I agree, I'm totally pissed. I bought my iPhone 3 weeks ago. Just talked to my local Apple store and they said the return period is 2 weeks and there really isn't anything they can do. I'm planning on going up there in person and talking to the manager. If I can't get at least a gift card or refund this WILL be the last Apple product that I buy. I feel like I got ripped off...

Me too...
I was a proud owner of iPhone for about a month. Now.. I feel like I'm a dullard... 33% price drop after two months?

Its the price of being first.

This is normal for all electronics and prescription drugs

Remember when the HD DVD Player was $999 in March?
$149 at wal-mart this christmas.
For the exact same Toshiba player.

The higher prices at release help to recover the R&D cost.

Totally Ridiculous

I am more than a bit irritated as well. I bought my phone on iDay, but I never expected them to drop it by $200 after 8 weeks! I expected a price drop after Christmas time. I sort of feel betrayed. They have alienated the Apple die hard fans who were first in line. This stings.

I'm not upset at all.

Last February, I bought a Garmin GPS, it was the Nuvi 680. I got it the first day it was on sale at BestBuy and it was $999, I bought two.

Now I can get it for $799. Oh well, that happens and I knew eventually it would happen with the iPhone. It was the going rate for the iPhone at the time and we all willingly paid it and that means Apple can't be sued.

So now I have a great iPhone and I will gladly buy a new iPod Touch. Can't wait! Move on people.

Wot a bunch of crybabies.....

Bought the iPhone on the first weekend. It's been a great time having it over the last couple of months. Very happy with it. The cut in price is normal and driven by businesss. That's how you grow your market share.

If you bought in the last week or so I'd have some feeling for those folks. But they can probably return it pay a restocking fee and get a new one for less.

If you can't afford to be one of the early adopters on a product then stay out of the game. In the real world, prices fall as volume increases.

Look if that basic economic structure eludes you, complain to Shrillary and your socialists candidates. They can't fix it (like government in most things) but they will listen to you and tell you how correct you are for feeling oppressed.

And then they will take Apple's $$$ political donations and laugh at you later.

You have an iPhone and you're "gladly" going to buy an iPod Touch? Why in the hell would you do that?

I don't even have time to be upset.

I'm too busy laughing at the people who are worried that other people will think they 'only' have an iPod instead of an iPhone just because the new iPod looks like an iPhone. Who cares?! Enjoy your iPhone and stop worrying about what other people think.

I'm sure all the new iPod owners will be holding their iPods to their ears so it looks like they have an iPhone. ROFL.

I don't care one bit that they lowered the price. If you don't like it, sell your iPhone....fast, before everyone finds out ;)

Let's Get our Money Back for the 8GB!

If anyone has any ideas on petitioning Apple, I'm all ears. I figure Apple has alienated most of the people who bought the 8GB for full price. If they sold close to a million units by now, I figure that at least 300,000 of them are 8Gb. That's a lot people to screw over.

Anyone have any ideas on how we might be able to get through to Apple?

I bought my phone 17 days ago! 17 days! Just out of the 14 day window for a return.

I agree, I feel like I was ripped off. A 14 day return period? Come on... I'm in the same boat as you, I bought mine 20 days ago. I think Apple is going to alienate a lot of people with this move.

Let's start the petition, demanding some type of restitution. Does anyone know how?
