And so it begins, the end to a year of rumors, put to bed in one single event. The biggest drama will be the 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Is there one or two new iPhones. Also, will this mark the entrance of Apple into the wearables market?
Speculation on the web yesterday turned to U2 and possible involvement of theirs in the iPhone 6 launch (with the linked article pointing out that this date also "happens to be" the date U2's new album will be released).
It would be extra nice if Apple used their recently erected structure by the Flint Center as a venue for U2 to perform, or the stage at the Flint Center itself... I could think of various ways U2 could have landed this deal with Apple... (1) Big Cash, (2) ultra-special editions of Product (RED) iPhone 6 (256 GB edition with U2 discography pre-loaded, anyone?), and, lastly, (3) Big Cash.
The 256 GB edition iPhone 6 does sound like a stretch, I realize this, but it wouldn't be the first time Apple did something special with a Product (Red) edition of one of their products. I'm sure they could easily and quickly auction off a dozen of these for charity, or just sell them for their own profit.
Update: A spokesperson for U2 has denied rumors of U2 performing at the iPhone launch and even of their inclusion of any U2 album(s) on the new iPhone, an Irish online publication said.
UPDATE 2: The article I had linked to above has been removed. It cannot even be found on the Google Cache for that URL. Perhaps this is significant??
