Makes perfect sense to me, more people = more sales = priority. US company or not, Apple is in the businesss of making money.

Isn't the whole purpose of a supposed cheap iPhone in order to be competitive in China. How much demand is there for the more expensive model?

The cheapest 5c is $USD733 in China. Guessing then that the 5s will start north of $USD900. Also add that the freight is much cheaper. Making cents now?
