Can an Apple TV be used to AirPlay a MacBook without having a wireless router or Internet connection? In other words, can both the ATV3 and MacBook Air both be connected for AirPlay purposes directly without a wireless router as a middle man?

The MBA should be able to create it's own network for these purposes, I think. Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the toolbar and select "create network."

There's a relevant discussion here, but it's a bit dated. I can't test it right now or I would. Please keep us posted if you find a solution.

I'll be running some test soon. I'll also need AirParrot because my MBA does not support Airplay (mid 2010). I'll report back. Thanks
