I have Pages and Numbers on my iPad 2. If I buy a Mac book Pro, will I be able to load these at no extra cost?
Thanks.

Yes. To pages 09, PDF or Word. I use PDF but I can't edit the document from PDF to print.

BTW I have pages and windows Xp but I assume it's no different.

Mac, are you sure? I have numbers on my phone and ipad2, and when I go on my MacBook it doesn't give me the option to download it for free, but I have to re-buy it.

The apps are totally separate, to use the iOS apps and their respective OS X apps you will need to purchase both apps.

We got new versions of those apps for having purchased our respective 5S phones. The updates were granted for our MPB & iMac as well.
YMMV

These apps are now included with new purchases.

I had mentioned this on another thread a while back. I missed these free apps by a few days. I upgraded in August last year. But my wife got a new 5c in March. So since we share the same iTunes ID, those she downloaded were also in my purchased list. So I got them free too. iOS 8 will make sharing purchases easier for families.

Yes, we got the mobile apps for free as well, when my wife and I both upgraded.
