I read this today in Newsday...
Cashman, who had fallen asleep before 9 p.m. Sunday while reading his son a bedtime story, has said he received a message on his phone at 9:32 to call Boras and a text message at 9:42 saying A-Rod was opting out. The story was on SI.com by 10:15.

That's one helluva text message... I wonder about the contents.

AROD has g2g.ttyl. Scott

I remember A-Rod saying something about if he doesn't get a good offer he will opt out. The New York Mets are giving him a really good offer. I hope he is a met next year!

I would love the Mets to sign him. More opportunities for Yankee fans to boo him.:p

I doubt he'll come back to NY. I think either LA or SF.

I would rather ARod go to SF then LA. If he were on the Mets they would be unstoppable.

Unstoppable? Only in the regular season. Post season, he's a flop. You can have him. Just wish he didn't have to come back fo next years All-Star game in Yankee Stadium.
