AsBattery is available on Cydia now. It activates the battery percentage meter on the iPhone 3G. Once installed do a reboot and then you can turn it on in setting - general - usage.

Does the SBsettings one do the battery and percentage side by side or do you tap the battery to see the number?

Do you have "allsources" installed? If not go to the sections tab in Cydia and scroll down to Repositories. Install the Steffwicz source and then search for "allsources" and install that. You should then be about to find the AsBattery mod.

Add the source I listed on the first page and you should find it after you install the source.
