AT&T now offers free 5GB cloud storage

    I remember reading something a while back but it was Android related. Dropbox was offering something like 25GB of free storage for HTC One X purchasers but AT&T opted out of that deal.

    I guess they 'hope' people use it, need more space and purchase from them. I can't really see this going anywhere as like stated above the market is already flooded with cloud storage options.

    I read in one article that AT&T may feel like the more you are "connected" to them, the more you're likely to stick with them when you have an opportunity to go with a different provider. I guess investing in this little side act was cheaper than investing in strengthening their existing network and expanding their LTE service to new markets.

    ...And being able to prove reliable service during emergencies of the type that knock out cell service, like Sandy.
