I am 18 days away from being upgrade eligible. One thing I really like about my Q9h is that it can switch from normal to vibrate, for example, when my calendar indicates I'm busy. I can use this for meetings, church, etc. but it's quite handy for even going to the movies. Does the 3G S have automatic profile switching? If not a feature of the phone, does anyone know of an app that switches profiles?

I don't think so... you have to manually switch between loud and silent by flicking a physical button... I don't think a software can do that.

Someone answered in the app forum. I was reminded that the iPhone can't multitask/run apps in background. RATZ!

So what does multitasking have to do with switching profiles? Anyway, profiles are the old cell phone paradigm.

Still, the feature you want could be pretty useful. While I like the physical silent switch, I wish it could be also performed through software also. In fact, I wish there was an icon to show you that your phone is in silent mode. Sometimes I keep forgetting to turn it back on!

When you walk into a meeting, flick the silence switch on....when you finish the meeting, flick it off.... simple ;)

That was another killer feature of Windows Mobile. Everyone here will poo-poo it, but they know in their hearts that that they wish the iPhone did it.

Funny, I didn't think it was a question of "sides" versus having a device work the way you would like to use it. Oh, well.
