There is an update for Backgrounder available on Cydia. Users of firmware 3.0 and up can now activate background operation for individual applications via menu settings.

I updated mine, but now I get this little icon right next to my Phone icon, bottom right corner, looks like a little sun (sorry no idea how else to describe it). Anyone else having the same issue?

You can turn that off in Global. turn off Badge.

You are seeing the Backgrounder Badge - my is on the bottom left of the icons. Go into Backgrounder, Preferences -> Global, using the Badge option, you can toggle On and Off the icn badge.

I would like to use the badge for only apps that I select to background, not the factory apps (phone, mail, messages, ipod). Maybe in the next update, you could be able to select/deselect which apps carry a badge when backgrounding? The badge, while useful for most apps, makes my Glass Orb Color dock look tacky.

I really like the application selection for auto-backgrounding. I just wonder what it'll do to battery life. I like having Tweetie auto-run in the background, same with Slacker.

I have been trying to turn off the wheel. Could you please explain how to find this. What do you mean 'go into Backgrounder'? How exactly do you navigate to the Global page?

Open up the backgrounder app itself. Then you'll see the Global settings. Turn off Badge.

EDIT: As usual, Nap beats me by mere seconds. ;)

How do you open up the app? Where exactly is it located?

On your springboard, like your other apps. It's labeled Backgrounder.

Did you ever use Categories, and place it in a category?

You don't have the app hidden, do you? You didn't use SBSettings to hide Backgrounder?
We have a winner!

Icon turned off in SBSettings. It was the only icon turned off in the list.

Thanks for the help guys!
