Well first, the iPhone IS widescreen, so you shouldn't get those bars. And secondly, a Bluray disc would not be any clearer, if it can even be decrypted on a regular drive at all.

No, I agree with you. I would prefer Blu-Ray,(justifying my $600 PS3), but that won't be the case. HD DVD has become the preferred choice here in America . As time goes by you'll notice less available Blu-Ray movies.

BLURAY will more than likely win, Blockbuster carries it in the stores b/c they had a test run with stores carrying both formats and found BD was preferred in 70% of the customers who rented hi-def formats. 300 was bought/preferred by more people on BBD that HDDVD because more consumers have BD players (b/c of the ps3). If I remember this correctly, Toshiba is soon to release a 200 dollar HDDVD player, the preferred consumer price. There are 14 studios that back HDDVD, and 12 that back BD, however the larger studios back BD. But, the porn industry backs HDDVD except for one studio (which i cant remember at this time). Also, Transformers, this summers largest blockbuster will be releaseed exclusively on HDDVD because of paramounts recent decision.
