Will Bluetooth transfer of contacts to a car ever be supported?

My car and my girlfriends car both transfer contacts just fine. I drive a BMW and have an iPhone 4 and she has a 3GS and drives a Mini Cooper

I have BMW and notice sometimes I do not get my contacts to transfer. So weird. BMW has poor performance in so many ways with there iDrive.
I have 08 650. I love it but not a big iDrive fan.

I've heard that some people have no issues transferring contacts - when I try to do it the car menu says to start the transfer from the phone. I can't find any option on the phone to initiate the transfer. I have no trouble pairing the phone and the car - it's initiating the transfer I can't figure out.

I finally gave up on it and spent $0.99 on a pedometer app - works like a charm.

Ok....I don't understand. Is it possible to transfer contacts via Bluetooth to non-iOS devices such as car radios or not?

Yes. I transferred mine to my BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth car speakerphone. The device must be enabled to accept them; not all are.
