Can I do a Jailbreak directly on my phone?

Hey everyone,

I have the iPhone 4 with the latest iOS 5, and my modem firmware is 3.0.04.

Could I do a OTA Jailbreak on my iPhone directly, or maybe use the JailBreakMe tool? Or another OTA method? Or it should be connected via the PC, and not my phone directly?

Thank you guys!

As it currently stands, there is not an OTA Jailbreak available. And there will probably not be one. Also, yes it has to be connected via the PC, and there is only a Tethered JB available right now for the iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.

I am going to wait until untethered. That was my next question, but you spoke for me. When will there be an untethered jailbreak?

Thank you for your reply!

No problem! As far as an untethered JB, I heard they may be waiting for the next big update before they do that!

You need to use your computer, no other way is possible currently as far as I know.

An untethered jailbreak for IOS 5.1 should be imminent.... Pod2g is close to packaging and releasing a new tool....;)
