I don't know if this possible so I thought I would ask. I have a detached garage where I want to use my ATV. In order to get wifi I have to hook up the modem and router in the garage. My Mac will be in the house and will not get the wifi signal. Will I be able to use the ATV without it connecting to the Mac in the house? I want to stream a game from my 4S on ESPN3 to the TV.

The computer will not need to be connected if you just want to mirror from your 4S to your Apple TV 2. It has to be an Apple TV 2, though.

Thanks. I am pretty sure it is an ATV2. I purchased it in May of this year and it does not have internal storage.

And this is an Apple TV 2.

If you bought it this May it's highly likely that you bought an ATV2 :)

Have you tried a range extender for your wifi. Seems that would give you both on the wifi. That's assuming the garage in not a huge distance.

    It is an ATV2.

I have not tired a range extender. I can barely pick up the wifi signal with the door open but now it's too cold for that. Might have to give it a try.

Or just get a second el-cheapo router for the garage.

That works but I was thinking on the lines of keeping it all on the same wifi.

    Then you'll need a booster.
