Will I need to get a new sim card if I am going from the original iPhone to the iPhone 3GS? My current sim card has the 3G logo on it. Thanks for the help.

Why would your SIM have the 3G logo on it if it is from the original iPhone?

And doesn't the 3GS come with a SIM of its own?

I'm not really sure. I think that maybe AT&T switched over to using the 3G sim cards in everything at one point. It seems that a lot of people who don't have 3G phones have the sim cards with the 3G logo on them.

Yes I got 3 V1 iPhones on launch day and they have sim cards that say 3g on them. so that should mean that I should be able to put it in the 3G or the 3GS iPhones, right?
My husband is taking our sons 3G and our son is gonna use his dads eligible upgrade to get the 3GS for himself so will all they have to do to keep their same phone number is switch sim cards?

Yes as long as it says 3G it will work. I am using someone else's upgrade eligibility so yeah that should be all you have to do especially since they use the same data plan. Just have your son restore the 3GS from his backup and restore the 3G with 3.0 and restore it from your husbands backup.

If this is true I will most likely pay full price for a 16gig and keep my $20 data plan

You can't have a 3G with the $20 plan, they won't allow it

Because if you are planning on signing a new agreement, you also will sign for the updated plan as well.

Not sure what you are getting at, but all phones come with a sim card.
