First off, 'very cheaply' doesn't sound right. Is it?

Secondly, and back on topic, the other day I took my iPhone 4S to work sans case, which I never do. Of course it fell out of my pocket and into a metal container full of iron camshafts.

On my lunch break I found a replacement back on eBay for $8.99! Got it today and replaced in a jiffy.
So, if you crack the rear glass, replacement is cheap and easy. Crack the front, you're in trouble.

Was it an OEM rear glass panel?

Pretty easy, although they forgot to send me the pentalobe screwdriver so I had to slightly modify a tiny flathead screwdriver to get the microscopic screws out. Then you slide the back up towards the top of the phone about a quarter inch, and it pops right off.

As far as I know. It looks exactly the same as the original, sans the cracks.

I was surprised at how easy the back is to replace. It is a tad bit easier with the Pentalobe screwdriver though. Lol
