Good! hopefully they won't kill off the Element line then. There are rumors. It would make me very sad.

Maybe they'll even have enough money to ADVERTISE IT.

I've been working steadily, thank God! The Japanese know how to design a car!

Is your plant running at capacity or can you guys make more engines? I'm curious, if there was a shift in demand, where Honda needed more K series 4 cylinders and less J series V-6 do they have to retool a whole line or can production be changed on the fly? I have heard a lot of praise for Honda's flexible manufacturing and was wondering if this also applied to engines?

The lines are set up to run different models at any time. The 4-cylinder lines are running full capacity, but the V-6 line (I'm on that one) is not, due to the lack of demand for V-6's. The lines never have to to be retooled--the way they are set up, they can run all models, depending on American Honda's demands.

Cool, does this mean that they could start running 4 cylinders on your line if they need more? Does this require any special changes for the personnel or is everyone versed in making both engines?

I have to buy a car soon when my lease is up. I have a couple Hondas on my list. My Dad bought at least 5 Accords in his life!

You can never go wrong with a Honda-family product. For that matter, you can't go wrong with a Toyota either. :)

My parents have had Hondas since 1982. I shifted to Toyota in 1999. Still driving my 1999 Camry (120k). If all goes well, I'll give it to my 9yr old as a paid-off used car, and I'll go to a hybrid.

Others have started reporting sales and the Honda Civic was the best selling car in the US last month! Behind it were the Camry and Accord and then the perennial winner the Ford F-150. It's even more impressive when you remember that Honda (unlike Toyota) does not to fleet sales.

They do! May I remind you of the phrase "I pinch!"

My sister has a 2008 kiwi green element. She is in love with it!

LOL I love these!

They (the masterminds) already thought of that, and it would be too costly to run both 6's and 4's on the v-6 line, so they just ramped up the 4-cyl lines.
