Is it a minute overage or a message overage?

If it's a message overage, you get charged this by sending to or receiving from anyone who's not in the U.S.

If it's a minute overage, ask them if it's possible somebody international called and rang your phone, at which point it could be billed as an overage.

They're stupidly over-general about these things on the billing site, and it's really rare to find anyone at AT&T who knows what they're doing to find out the real details.
Its a minute overage. Two minutes on mine and one minute on my wifes. Well. see how it goes...who knows what will happen .

Check that last post..now my wife has 8 minutes overage...and it says we've used 2 of 1400 anytime minutes!

okay but don't you have rollover minutes? We go over our anytime minutes often but we have the rollover minutes that takes care of that.

So I logged onto my account tonight, and found that 1 day after my billing cycle started again, I have an overage. I have 1389/1400 anytime minutes available, but I have an overage. 1 minute on my wifes line, and 2 minutes on mine. A call to ATT resolved nothing. They said it should just 'go away'! Riiight Ive been around long enough to know a charge just does not 'go away'! So I guess ill have to wait until the end of this billing cycle to fight it. Or...maybe it will just 'go away'!;)
I've had this same problem. Last month, I switched online to a larger calling plan. When the billing cycle reset, all of my voice minutes went to overages, even though my account was freshly reset to full minutes.

I called CS several times. Their response was similar: "it takes time for the computer to reset the minutes at the end of a billing cycle. Please wait 5 businesss days and call me in the morning!" After about 3 days, I checked online and the overage charges converted over to minutes of use.

Lesson learned: keep track of your usage and stay on top of CS.

Billing makes a mistake every now and then, and customer service in my experience is fairly easy to deal with when such a thing happens. I just corrected my bill by $40 because I was billed twice for the unlimited data/messaging when I should have only been billed the difference between the $30 unlimited data/1500 messages and the $40 unlimited. They brushed off the extra $10 difference for my troubles.

My advice would be to do what they say and wait for the bill to show up, and then call so they can correct it, if anything.

Yeah, I must say each time i've called the ATT reps were very nice. I guess it is the thought that I am showing a overage that bothers me. As of this AM, I have used 1 of 1400 anytime minutes and 87 overage minutes. The last gal I talked to said it should all be fixed by Friday!

Well it seems everything is back to normal, for the most part. All the overage minutes are gone and my anytime minutes are being deducted. However, now all my rollover minutes are gone.Unless they are not suppose to show up with the rest of your minutes. One thing after another.......

The rollover minutes are not shown with the regular minutes, they're a separate bar.

Right, but there is no separate bar. When I talked to ATT Tuesday, she said they would show up below all the others(AT, NW, M2M ect) but they are not there.....

Have you recently changed the account in any way, such as adding more text message features or changing the rate plan?

If you're already on a plan it's an additional $20 for the iPhone Data Plan with 200 texts, $30 with 1500 and $40 with unlimited.

If you're on an individual line, here is a link that can give you the exact costs you're going to be looking at.

Well it seems that I can afford most effectively the $59.00 plan, at first i was worried about the 450 minutes, but then at the bottom it said that their was unlimited mobile-to-mobile which is like if i ever do call someone- I'd much rather text than talk- it would be their mobile!

Only problem is im still not sure whether or not I should go with the 1500 text or unlimited, which would be a difference of $10 dollars at the end of the month? Ive never had unlimited text, so Ive kinda trained myself to control my texts to a minimal.

So 60.00 voice/data
with 1500/unlimited text- 30/40 dollars
= $90-$100 dollar bill :)?

First of all, thanks for the compliment. Secondly, there are a few things you should first know. The "free mobile to mobile" only means calls to other AT&T mobile users. So you could take for free with any friend or family member that has AT&T. Otherwise it will use your minutes, such as talking to someone with Verizon or T-Mobile. You might want to simply ask your friends and then put if they're free in the contacts so you can easily tell if you can talk to them for free.
Thirdly, the texting from 200 to 1500, once you subscribe to a plan, is going to be only $10 more expensive and $20 more expensive to go from 1500 to unlimited. So it should be $59.99+$10 to get 450 minutes and 1500 text messages. You have to throw in taxes and such so you're looking at about $80 tops if I'm not mistaken.

Ok so my husband started out with an iPhone with AT&T when they done away with the unlimited plans. He is on the 25.00 plan never having a problem going even never his plan. Well since getting the 4S he has been going over his data and getting charged the 10.00 overage fee. Can anyone tell me if there is something that would help to stop this. He uses it about the same as before so not sure if something is running in back ground at all times or what?

Hmm. Just checked mine and it's 482mb in 17 days so that seems to be normal for me.

Is he using the phone where there is no wifi for most of the day?

Maybe he's watching porn on the road?
