iPhone data plan = $30
Non-iphone data plan = $39.99
...but it was $20 unlimited data with the V1. I can see why people would have something to say. You used your V1 for a year at $20 and now pay $10 more for the same service and don't have twice the speed that was promised.

Like I said before, it's amazing that that gave v1 owners unlimited data for the same price as unlimited media net, but they did because the phone was so expensive and there was no subsidized pricing. Now they are treating the iPhone like any other smartphone.

Just think of it like this: If you had the V1 iPhone then you got a year of data at a discount, now it's at regular price.

Then I would view that as 24month at $10 plus 24months at $5 = $360 + $199 for 8Gig (no 16 back then) is $559 plus taxes and fees. I be better of with a non subsidized phone with the old plan.

EDIT

What happen to Half the Price, twice the Speed

That is for the the people with EDGE on no 3G in a 3G area.

Then take yours back and do that.

Why aren't you comfortable with the fact that you now have to pay what people have been paying for over a year? Do you think you're entitled to a ridiculously cheap data plan because you own an iPhone?

Break down what you spend on coffee or fast food per year, or how about satellite tv or cable. Why do people do this with the iPhone? it's madness, it's a service that you either want or need, and if you want or need it bad enough then you'll accept it and pay for it. $30 a month for internet on your phone (a luxery) is great, and not too much to ask in my opinion.

Wow, really? That is referring to the device, not the service. The phone is half the price and is capable of twice the speed.

come on people.....

I have no issue, again I say I was asked my opinion.

You mention cost of V1 for cost of $20 Data Plan. I mention cost of 3G and $30 data plan.

I be more than glad to pay another $30 on top of the $30 if Apple will let me tether my iPhone like I used to do with a $40 data plan on other phones.

iPhone 3g w/2 year contract = $199 (phone) + $30 (data) + $5 (200 texts) X 24 months = $1,039.00

un-subsidized iPhone 3g (no contract) = $599 (phone) + $20 (data and 200 texts) X 24 months = $1,079

4GB was $299 and 8GB was $399 for V1

Which would mean the 3G cost more and would need a lower Data Plan if you say cost was an issue.

Also if AT&T is subsidizing $400 than the V1 would have been free with a contract.

We are talking about people that don't get 3G in a 3G area and paying 3G prices.

dude, you don't get it. you said a non-subsidized phone, a 8 gig iPhone 3g non-subsidized is $599. that's not the point here though, please, please, please stop saying 3g prices. the 3g network has NOTHING to do with the price of the data plan.

i'm done, it's clear that some people refuse to understand/accept certain things.

i'm not mad at you personally, just tired of people complaining about something when plenty of information about it is available and was available before they made the purchase. i just wish people would spend 15 minutes on the internet doing research about products before they buy them, it's not hard....

I agree, but it was a Thread about 3G on and EDGE Network paying 3G prices compared to the old V1 prices.
