How to set my browser to desktop view only? I'd like to avoid websites from showing the mobile versions? Is there a way to force the desktop view?

Not sure how / if you can do this with Safari on iPhone/iPad. However there is an app called Atomic Web Browser that lets you set the default page load type to full

Most of the third party browsers have this feature. However, I find that browsing is often slower on third party browsers regardless of the user agent setting.

that's totally understandable cause your getting more of the webpage. but sometimes it is needed.

I was also referring to mobile site as far as speed goes. I thought Atomic was the best of those I tried.

Personally, I use very few mobile sites. I like desktop versions.

Me too. I have an iPhone so I don't have to use mobile sites.

My gripe with 3rd party browsers is that without a jailbreak - there is no way to make them the default browser on the iPad. This means that when you open a link from and app/email/etc, it will pull up in Safari and not the third party Browser.
