Does anyone know if you can insert punctuation when using dictation?

Right now I'm using dictation to see if this works, it seems like it works better than Siri on the iPhone how can that be?

You have to speak your punctuation. Like this:

The iPad voice dictation works better than Siri (comma) because all it's doing is recognizing your speech (comma) not trying to determine nuances of langauge (period) At least that's what I think it would be doing (period)

    Make sense (question mark)
