I have a friend who has an iPod that she says is disabled and displays "connect to iTunes." The problem is that the computer that it was last sync'd with is dead and they now have a new computer. She suspects that someone has attempted to enter the password too many times. Not sure why it's disabled. I do realize the backup is gone since its on the old computer.

I have not had any of my idevices end up this way so I'm posting to the experts. I believe the iPod is a third generation. Will she be able to connect the iPod to the new Pc and still have her apps & songs? Anyway to get the data to transfer from the iPod back to the new pc? What's the best advice to give her?

For the music, get a program called Sharepod. Will let you transfer the music on the device to the computer.

I've heard of that. Good tip.

How do you get the iPod out of the "connect to iTunes" mode?
