connects the phone to a tv? I would love to be able to load my phone with movies, go on a trip and be able to plug the phone into the hotel tv and watch movies instead of bringing dvd's and hoping that they have or will let me rent a dvd player. Thanks

I'm assuming this works with V1 or 3G, but someone who knows for sure will chime in shortly.

Yep, it works with both. The quality is amazing.

Wow. I bought that same cable but I'm sure it wasn't anywhere near $49. I think the one you linked may be a kit with charger and other cables included.

The link is for a component connection. There's another one for composite. It works very well with the iPhone and my wife's 30G video iPod.

I bought both of them (using the $100 Apple credit for buying V1 iPhone at $600), 'cause you never know what TV connection will be available when traveling.

Here's a detailed review from AppleInsider.

Using Handbrake, the movies I've converted end up being about 1 gig.

I get much smaller than that with Videora for windows. I'm using custom settings (that are high compression but still look great on the small screen).

I've never done a 2.5 hr movie, but a 100 min movie tops out around 300-350MB with my settings.

Do you need to set anything on the iPhone, to tell it to video out? Like you you have to on an iPod?

Or does it detect the cables and auto TV outs?

Go to settings/ipod/tv out and set your choices.

I might have to pick up this cable. Is it comparable to watching it on a DVD player? I couldn't get handbrake to work ok my DVDs.
