I have a Bose SoundDock with the old 30 pin connector and want to hook up my iPhone 5 to it. I had been using a 30 pin dock extender previously because I had a LifeProof case. I'm naked now and don't plan on getting a LifeProof case anytime soon. I'm just concerned that using the lighting to 30 pin extender might put too much stress on the lighting connector. So, should I just get the lighting to 30 pin (female) cable instead?

I guess the main questions, are will it charge my iPhone and also play the music on it through the lighting?

Of course, I could just get a Bluetooth Bose Sounddock, but that is kinda out of my price range right now.

Please help me out. Thanks!

Thanks. I just hope it passes both music and charging through.
The 30 pin adapter does support charging and audio. Charging and audio have worked with every accessory I've tested both of Apple's adapters with. However, they will only work if the accessory is fully compatible with adapter, and some of them are not.

Thanks!

I bought the Apple extender and it worked on my naked iPhone. I have to return it and get the cable to use with my case.

Exchanged my dock extender for the cable and it also works. Thanks again!
