Don't seem to be able to enable mirroring from my 4S to Apple TV2.

I hit the home button twice. Swipe right twice. Hit the output source button. Select Apple TV.

Then nothing happens. I'm not given the option to enable mirroring.

Any ideas?

Nope. Hadn't even thought of that. I'll do it now.

The mirroring doesn't work automatically either, you will have to enable this within the app.

Updated and the mirroring is working great. Nightstand is a really nice app to run on your bigscreen at night I've just discovered. Wow!

Any app. I found that it wasn't automatic, you had to enable AirPlay from within an app/game etc.
Mirroring is not App dependent. Once enabled it mirrors everything on your device - iP4S or iPad 2.

Well not for me on the iPad 2 and I also didn't say it was app dependent. My display wasn't mirrored? I may have done something wrong, I'm not sure. I don't own an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4S so I can't even re-test.

Once you enable mirroring in the multi-tasking bar it is just like having a 2nd monitor. Whatever is on your device screen is on your TV screen.

Sorry to repeatedly beat the same brush but it didn't work like that for me.

Sorry. That's how it is intended to work and in fact does work. That is what mirroring means. Give it another try when you have a chance.

After updating the software on my Apple TV, and then turning mirroring on in the taskbar on my iPhone 4S, then an exact duplicate of my phone screen showed up on my television. Anything I did on my phone was mirrored up on the screen. But man did my phone get hot while it was doing it.

Also my wireless network, which has been very problematic lately, made it very laggy.

Air Play and mirroring are two completely different things. Mirroring only works on the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S. Do you have an iPad 2?
