Question is it better to sign a contract 2 years at releasedate and then pay to break it next year let's say June
or buy the phone without contract ?

You don't have to break your contract. You just upgrade every year and the two-year contract period starts over on the day you buy the new one. The only time it's beneficial to buy it contract-free is when you are certain you're going to switch carriers within a few months of purchase.

I know we have done that we have always a line open to renew but we may move overseas. But now I think until I am not certain I should just go ahead and sign a contract and take my losses when or if it is happening.
I hope I can update the line and switch back the sims like I have always done. I have one open for update now! The next is March (by then I know 100% where we moving too) and the last next year October.

Just don't expect Verizon to move your upgrade date

I'd buy it subsidized in that case. You might be able to get out of the ETF if you move overseas. If not, it's $325 and prorated (that amount is reduced by $10 per each month of the contract that's fulfilled), so you'll be able to pay that off the ETF after selling the phone for $400+ as well as well as recoup some of your initial cost of the phone.

Thanks that is what I am thinking.

Finally something solid, after (rumors at least) getting pushed back so much. And what of all the other devices? If I hear about a solid early-October release for Android/other devices I'm calling shenanigans! Can't all have the same manufacturing setbacks

8g, I am barely making it with 16 and am eyeing up the 32 for my next upgrade.
there are a lot of people that wouldn't use those 8G plus that only for the low end iPhone4 the 5 will have 16 and 32
