I used it when I had my sprint phone all the time....
You can upload a .mp3 and make your own ringtone.
You download it to your computer and it saves it as an iTunes ringtone file
So just put in your phone and add it!

It's really easy sorry if someone has already posted this....

Hmm, I used something similar to make ringtones for my BB. It was called cellsea.com

I'll give this one a try though, thanks :)

i found that using iTunes to make ringtones was simpler than i thought, import, convert to AAC, rename to m4r, drag and drop to ringtones folder...

I agree. By far the best, but what about voicemail and text message alerts?

With the 1st generation, you couldnt make custom ones unless you were jailbroken and knew how to manipulate the file structure.

Can you do customs for voicemail and text alerts with the 3G?

Thanks!

true, b/c sometimes the tones are too long and iTunes wont load em to your phone. I think the cut off time needs to be 35seconds or less.

I tried this way but the end result sounded awful. The original mp3 in iTunes was fine but when I played the aac on my phone there was lots of noise. Does anyone know what I was doing wrong?

I'm not really sure, they sound perfect on my phone,
