Email connection to the server failed?

when trying to read my emails, iPad keeps saying "connection to the server failed" what's that all about, I know the password is correct as we are still able to send emails.

Occasionally, the password will need to be entered again. Try this:
Open Settings and go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select the account, select account again and then type in your password.

If that doesn't work, delete the email account from the iPad and then add it back in.
