Does anyone know, on WiFi, how much GB per hour FaceTime uses?

And does Skype use the same? Or less?

5 minutes on either uses about 15 megabytes.

About 533.3MB an hour, based on my call that lasted 54 seconds and used 8MB, which is 0.148148148148148MB a second.

You can check each calls usage by clicking on the FaceTime button, recent, then the (I) and it will say how many MB that used.

I missed the email when Europa first responded to this, however, for some odd reason, the iPhone App notification just showed up about 20 minutes ago....4 hours later....Really?

WiFi data is free and doesn't count against your monthly data allotment.

Wait. How to you get free home internet? :p I'm sure he knows WiFi usage doesn't count towards cellular usage. A lot of internet service providers have data caps.

Actually I've never seen capped home broadband. I've always had Optimum or FiOS.

When I was with Comcast they had a cap of 250 gigs a month. This was about 5-8 years ago. I don't know about know.

Geez, I wonder if I have a cap too. I just always ass/u/me-d it was unlimited. I do have one of those fancy-pants "Triple Play" deals for TV, phone, and internet. All the movie channels, Quantum speed boost, etc. It would be just like Verizon to give you extra speed so you burn through your data faster.

My carrier is Verizon, but my wifi is Comcast. If I have an "on wifi" gb limit, who would it be with?

If I had a cap, I'd be in trouble. Geez, my daughter alone is enough to blow through 100GB. The kid streams Netflix on multiple devices - TV, iPad. It's her version of multitasking.

Here's my Comcast data usage meter info for September, Oct. and Nov. The average use by Comcast customers is 17gb per month. I'm on my phone constantly and my wife uses hers. I don't see how some use 100+ gb in a month. Movies?

Movies, downloading, etc. we have 6 kids still at home so that's a large contributor.

I just monitor it regularly and if we get close, I tell the kids no more netflix, music downloads, etc. And if we get closer than I'm comfortable with, I pull the plug.

Exactly! What's an extra $10 for another 50 GB?
