Fading or dim screen on turning on. Takes 30 seconds or so with turning off etc to come back. Does this mean my phone is failing?

Several things to try. First, go to Settings/Wallpaper and Brightness, look at the slider under the word brightness and it should be somewhere in the middle area. (More about this in a moment). Below that is a switch to turn on Auto-Brightness, that should be in the on position (green on the left side of the switch). Auto-Brightness allows the phone to automatically make the screen brighter in high ambient light situations or start the phone at a lower level in low light areas. It will also allow the screen to brighten quickly if you go outside into brighter light or to dim the screen slowly if you go inside from outside. It is a battery saving feature. The next thing to try is a hard reset of the phone, press and hold the Power Button and the Home Button at the same until the Apple logo appears (usually about 10-15 seconds) then release both buttons and allow the phone to boot. Then recheck to see if the problem persists. If it does the next thing to try is to Reset All Settings. You won't loose any user generated data (photos, music, e-mail, texts etc.) by going to Settings/General and scroll to the bottom of the page and press Reset and then press Reset All Settings (the top item). Be careful NOT to press the next button down called Erase All Content and Settings as that Button will restore your phone back to the day you first took it out of the box and you will loose everything you put on the phone. If Reset All Settings does not solve the problem, post back and let us know as there are more things to try but most likely one of the above will resolve you issue. Good luck
