probably used a turbo sim which will only keep the phone unlocked for a certain time. When the phone does lock itself back....Enjoy the bricked paperweight.

i bought my 3g in thailand. its unlocked. If i upgrade it to 2.1 will it get blocked as i am in a foreign country.? I have a local mobile connection which works very well

If you bought a unlocked phone it will stay unlocked. Doesn't matter if you bring it over to the US.
