This will either be successful or fail. Either way it's worth a shot, right?

The History- There were sections of the forums I used to be part of for members of each state to post in. There I found the Texas thread and decided that it was where I belonged and felt most comfortable. Right there with my fellow Texans!

So with that little bit of history out of the way, I figure this is a good way to attempt at starting up a thread for Texans. So whether you live here or have lived here, post up!

I just moved back! Grew up in Houston from the age of 4, then went to school at UT, then moved back to Houston for a few years.

Then, sadly, my girlfriend got into a great graduate school in the D.C. area, so I've been stuck up there for two and a half years... But now we're back in Austin!

Sometimes it's hard to describe what it is about Texas that makes you love it so much. I know a lot of people who have left, then realized how much they missed Texas and made sacrifices to come back. That's what I did, and I'm glad I did it.

I'm glad you did too! Welcome home! There is just something about our state that makes it unlike any other. Like you said though, sometimes it's hard to describe.

Maybe if we get enough people using this thread we can get an official Texas (and other states) thread created. How cool would that be?

Another Native Son here! Born in Irving, I was was raised in AK and CA but TX was always my summer vacation home as my whole family is from here. I moved back to the Austin in 1991 and have resided in this great state since. I currently live in the Dallas area now. While I sometimes long for a more mild climate like Northern Cal. or Oregon, there are things about Texas that could keep me here indefinitely.

I grew up in the NorthEast and have lived in a fair few places - but I've been in Austin over 10 years now and can honestly say I've never lived anywhere better. Just an awesome town.

Northeast Texas is where its at. Good ole' town of Greenville lol. Not too close to the insanity of Dallas traffic, but not so far away its a pain to go.

Can't forget the hour and a half drive to the Choctaw Casino in OK. lol

I'm happy to see posts by so many of you. Maybe my idea for this thread will become a reality. Nice to hear from other Texans.

Sorry I should've been more clear. I grew up in the North East of the US, not far from NYC. :)

Ah ok, what was your first impression of Texans?

and the one thing that bugs me more than anything. Do you say pecan "pea-can" "pea-cawn" "puh-cawn" or some other way? lol

First impression of Texans - incredibly friendly. Lasting impression of Texans after 10+ years here = same. I always tell my wife, I've seen ONE bar fight in Austin in all these years, in London I used to see three a week or more.

Oh, and I think I see pa-khan or something for that - mongrel London / US accent.

Wow, 3+ a week is quite a bit lol. Good ole' southern hospitality.

I don't know why but that is one of a few questions I always ask. Random and seemingly pointless, but trivia is what makes the world go round!

Spent most my life in San Antonio. Although I have no desire to live there or any other big city, SA will always be my home.

I am now about 45 miles north in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Have a nice day!

i do have enormous texas pride though. i don't even know where it stems from but i love it unconditionally. the only tattoo i would ever consider actually getting is the state of texas with the texas flag inside of it. i love austin though, and dallas because of the COWBOYS

I've only been living in Austin for around 11 years, but I think it's the greatest town anywhere, and Texans are great people.

Having lived here all my life I thought people were like that in every state. It wasn't until 5 years ago when I moved to Missouri for a year, that I learned that we are 'overly obsessed' with our state!

I'll tell you this, I couldn't get home fast enough!

Have a nice day!

I visited my grandparents twice in Houston. Once we took a drive out to Corpus Christi, that was awesome.
