We get the coolest toys, ya know?

$360 is not a lot of money for something that useful. Too cool! I want one!

Also...

The standalone projector goes on sale September 30. In a year or so, 3M hopes to squeeze it into cellphones.

I think 1080 is gonna be a stretch, id be surprised if it were 720p to be honest but what do I know.

Edit: The resolution is VGA 640x480. See link (in German) 3M Link Here

That kinda sucks :(

I'm holding out for the holographic version.
Exactly.

BTW, for the doubters, holographs are MUCH further along than most of you know or expect. They are being R&D'ed heavily in the medical field.

You'll start to see them for general use in , I would imagine, in another 10 years or so. My best guess based on what I have heard in Medical trade show discussions about the advancement of this technology.

Laugh all you want....it will be here sooner than you think.

Application in the medical field is pretty amazing. It'll take time to develop into a tool that can be used reliably, but once it is it could have a far reaching impact on how we view electronic interfacing, and image display.

People used to laugh off the idea of wirelss communication, and hand held computers....that went from distant reality to current mainstays in the home. Holographs are easily within our grasp.

Something tells me Tex bought some stock recently in a hologram firm...

He's right, though. The tech we see trickles down from industrial technologies we aren't even aware of.

I remember seeing a 360 degree television in a book years ago, at least 6. It would be so awesome for something like that to come to fruition.

The pocket projector is pretty sick too.

We scoff at VGA resolution, but we're missing the obvious application here... if they get this thing small enough to put INTO an iPhone... that's a game-changer there!

If by "industrial technologies" you mean UFOs...
