I'm still using the inexpensive Lightning cables I bought from Amazon last year. Not sure that's exactly where you were going with this post.

My point exactly! I'm glad we have options aside from the overpriced and in my opinion lower quality Apple stuff.

The lightning cable I got from monoprice is great, and is officially licensed or whatever from Apple. Granted it wasn't "cheap", but still less than half the price of an Apple cable.

tested today, and it does pass audio just fine.
Interesting. I've never heard of a non-Apple Lightning cable that passes audio. I guess it's because it's officially licensed by Apple. Most of them have big text that says "charge and sync" on the front since they won't pass audio.
