I found the website above that your phone can locate where you are at by the signals from the tower off of google maps. Supposedly you don't need a GPS enabled phone.

I tried it but couldn't figure out how to get it to work. Wondering if anyone else has seen this or uses it or can figure it out.

Well thats a bunch of crap.....

The google locater works slick tho, just tried it on a buddies blackberry.

Thats one thing i really wish the iPhone had was GPS. Even tho i am able to follow a map pretty well, would be a nice feature for the long road trips in finding where the hell in BFE you are.

That's a bit strange as it was touted as one of the iPhones main applications.

Is there any word if this will be available on the iPhone ever?
Why doesn't it work on the iPhone?

The original press release from Google said it was not available for the iPhone "yet". No indication if they actually will get it working and there was no information as to why it doesn't work. I can't find the link right now to the original release but it was posted on this site a few days ago (if I remember correctly).

Maybe it will be available in a firmware update from Apple. Hopefully this won't be one of the apps we have to purchase in February.

Hey all,
Forgive my ignorance but don't we have this already in Navizon? Or does the Google do something different. By the way, Navizon has never found me once even in downtown Victoria where the most coverage should be here on the island.
Thanks

I just downloaded it to my Curve 8300 and it gave me my location within like a half a mile not anything to get excited about seriously. I live on the south shore of Long Island and there's every service where i'm at.
