I have recently started having problems when clicking on home button or touch 3D, basically feeling like am getting multiple clicks on one press and on touch 3D the phone 'buzzes' and also am getting a slight screeching notice from the phone. Apple support tried to get me to do a restore - software issue, but am pretty sure it's a hardware problem with haptic engine. Anyone else having these problems?

Did you do the restore just to make sure?

Definitely do the restore before worrying, as Napoleon has suggested.

As far as the screeching, does it sound like the one in the video posted on this thread? If so, you can check out what others here had to say about it and decide for yourself if an exchange is in order for you.

This is easy to figure out. You have to reset it before you can exchange it with Apple, so you have nothing to lose by restoring it. Do a restore to factory settings in iTunes (not through the settings app on the phone). If it fixes it, you can apply your backup. If it doesn't fix it, exchange it at Apple.
