I found a company called gethuman.com and on their website there's an option for you to type in your phone number and the company you need support from is supposed to call you back when they're ready to talk to you, as opposed to making you waiting on hold. Great for people who hate to be on hold, even with speakerphone or hands-free.

For Apple, it is: http://gethuman.com/call-back/Apple/

I placed a request for a callback today (Monday) at 9:11PM ET, and my phone rang at 9:25PM, but YMMV.

The company's aim is to help you get in touch with support from big companies quicker. Their main page is at:

http://gethuman.com

Here are some direct links to place requests for a call-back for select popular companies:

AT&T - http://gethuman.com/call-back/AT-T/
Verizon Wireless - http://gethuman.com/call-back/Verizon-Wireless/
Sprint Wireless - http://gethuman.com/call-back/Sprint-Wireless/
Metro PCS - http://gethuman.com/call-back/Metro-PCS/
Comcast - http://gethuman.com/call-back/Comcast-Xfinity/
United Airlines - http://gethuman.com/call-back/United-Airlines/
Taco Bell - http://gethuman.com/call-back/Taco-Bell/

That is very awesome! What does YMMV stand for though?

What would be cool is if this becomes something that all companies start doing, or is this a website that it can be available for any big company? I absolutely dislike holding for 10-15 minutes!

Nope, meaning that depending on the time of day and how busy the company is, it may take other folks longer, or shorter...

Other factors will come into play as well... If you use the website to place a callback request from AT&T or Verizon on the day of an iPhone launch, for example, it may take a very long time to get a callback, as they're busy with phone activations.

Makes sense. I'd rather do other stuff than having a phone in hand waiting, or on hold.

Thanks for the tip... I just downloaded the app, but I'll wait until I can tell it works before I upgrade to the Pro version for $.99.

I discovered this on accident when I put in a search for "customer service capital one" and the gethuman website was one of the results. I can recall quite a few times when this would have been useful.
