I was getting readings like that in a room 30 feet from the room where my modem was located. Turned out to be metal in the signal path. A big 26 cu ft fridge. I pulled the fridge out about 3 ft, and the download went from .67 Mbps to 12 Mbps. Rebar in walls can disrupt wifi signal. @Europa's advice should work.
Thanks guys, I figured it out! Believe it or not we just had a baby recently and he has an AngelCare baby monitor that has a camera and various other features with a wireless monitor station in our room and this was using the same channel as my iPhone/pad too! Hence low download! Cheers for your input though its appreciated
