From day one the "Read" state on my ipod is independent in that reading emails from a desktop do not result in changing it's state on my iPod4. I think the same goes for my wife's iPhone4.

There a fix for this?

Do you want your inbox to be the same however you look at it? i.e on the iPhone and the desktop... If you've read it on the phone, it shouldn't appear as a new email on a desktop?

The other way around. I've read it on the desktop. It's still unread on the iDevice.

Have you tried refreshing the mail app on the device? I don't think it's compatible with hotmail to be honest. I know it works with gmail.

Thanks for the time by the way.

I've tried refreshing mail in the app if that's what you mean.
As oppose to updating iOS to refresh the mail application itself. Both devices are JB'd and on iOS 4.2.1 and if updating was the fix then it would be good to know for when I'm ready to redo the JB.

I always suspected it's an unresolved compatibility issue and just surprised I've not really come across mention of it in the forums here.

Anyone else using hotmail having this issue?

Oh, I just assumed it was something with my jailbreak. Didn't know that there was a known issue with hotmail prior to iOS 5.

Nope, so you can jailbreak again!

(assuming you want a tethered jailbreak)
