I'm looking for a way to monitor my computer using my iPhone. Is this possible and if so, what's involved. Thanks for your help.

its SO awesome! you'll be amazed as I was after you set it up. its pretty simple.

Im surprised more people aren't freaking out about this feature. Monitor your room, control your mac wirelessly, and best of all...ALL your computers mp3s and movies!

I'm using ORB. Mycast.orb.com

Its CRAZY FAST! Even on edge! I would try orb first if I were you. The GUI can't be beat!
Wow! ORB looks great, but I'm not at my home PC right now to try it. I can hardly wait to give it a try. When you say it's crazy fast, are you streaming music or video? I would love to be able to stream movies, since I can only fit about 3 of them on my 8GB (along with about 4GB of music;))

ORB rocks and it is so true, the speed even on EDGE is great, plus the software is very secure.

How can it be good even over edge? I mean even streaming movies its okay over edge? Does orb convert the movies in realtime to downgrade them and then send to the iPhone or do you just have copies of all your video in some sort of lower-grade EDGE format?

Is there no orb for mac?

Wow, now I'll have to look into Orb as well! Can you open files on the computer as well? Telekenisis you can only open video and mp3 files, but can montior your desktop.

If Orb isn't on Mac (is it?) try Telekenisis...I've loved it so far, but yeah its much better on wi-fi than edge, but it works.

I haven't tried movies yet but the music is okay, plus you can see the documents and pictures on your system. (your host computer) and its free.

When you are listening to music can it play a whole playlist or does it play one at a time? I mean, can you set it up to play like 20 songs in a row or do you have to tell it at the end of each song to open up another one.

Is it for macs?

One at a time, in order to show the playlist you have to do it through iTunes. I'm using windows so not sure if they have it for mac.

I don't know if I like the fact that this software grants access TO ALL of my drives and my computer.

Remote Buddy

Check out Remote Buddy from iospirit. You can control most of your computer (70 applications) right from your iPhone. I just use it for iTunes.

Anyway, pretty cool to be able to control your Mac over the internet via your iPhone.
