I have the iPhone 4, 32GB with Verizon, and the iOS is 4.2.10. I don't have a jailbreak.

Could someone please give instructions on how do I bypass the 20MB mark when I'm downloading? In otherwords, when I'm downloading something that exceeds 20MB, I get a message saying that I need to connect to Wi-Fi. I can't do USB, because my drive burned out on my PC. Is it possible to bypass it directly on my phone, and how?

No, you can not do this without jailbreaking.

Thank you for your quick reply.

It seems like everything I need a jailbreak for. I can't even upgrade my iOS. I have the tethered iOS.

Thank you again.

I wasn't sure what you were referring to. To get around the 20 MB limit for podcasts you can use an App like Instacast.

You can't be refereeing to an iOS update since over the air isn't supported on the iOS your using. You would have to upgrade to ios 5 before running into that problem.

Thank you. Would the Instacast app be free? I was referring to let's say I'll download Mercury Web Browser, and it's greater then 20, so I can't download it. Would Instacast fix this problem, and would it work without jailbreaking? I could be wrong, I don't think it's Mercury. I think it's another Lite version browser.

No, unfortunately it's an App for podcasts only. That's the most frequent thing one might need to D/L that's over the 20Gb( edit 20MB limit.)( freaking auto correct)

For apps its either wifi or Jailbreak.

Chex, not GB, MB. There is a 20 MB limit when downloading apps from the AppStore over 3G.

Thanks. Was quite confused as a 20MB download cap in this day would be quite crippling. On 3G and just Apps, is merely an inconvenience, minor at that. Would think though that it should be increased as the device processing power grows.

Apple really need to remove this feature/annoyance. I do believe Apple should provide a prompt of some description which indicates the file size etc, but the user i.e me should be able to download whatever I want over 3G.

Man, I miss my jailbreak and 3G Unrestrictor. It comes in handy for downloading large apps and podcasts, and for FaceTime and high quality YouTube when not on WiFi.

Instacast was an excellent substitute for 3G unrestricter.
The only thing I miss now is Lockinfo.( But not enough to JB again) :)
