I am about to jailbreak my phone with the new Absinthe software, but need to know how long it takes before I begin so I don't get stuck

It can take as long as 30 minutes. Mine only took 7 minutes.

Cool, thanks I am pumped. Does anybody have any recommendations for apps/tweaks? The first thing I am going to do is disable the notification center and spotlight search!

I jailbroke mainly for toneFXs that allows u to thoroughly customize sounds on your device, 5 column springboard and dock (extra app on your dock, extra row on the springboard), nospot (allows u to kill spotlight search) and fake carrier (allows custom carrier name).....

Sure others will chime in with more suggestions.

We can change the carrier name through System Options > Custom Carrier (MakeItMine) in SBSettings now.

If you don't mind spending a little dough I'd suggest infinidock, navigate from maps (if you use a nav app), mywi (if you need to tether), gridlock.

SBsettings is a must and why in the world would you want to disable the notification center?

Because I constantly pull the notifications tab down by accident, it is to me a completely useless feature since I use badge app icon notifications.

Are you talking about the tab you see when you don't have the status bar or the pull-down window?

I like Bite SMS, BlurriedNCBackground, BytaFont, Color Keyboard, FolderCloser, iFile, Navigate from Maps, SBSettings, Siri Toggles, Switcher Mod, WinterBoard and 3G Unrestrictor.

    I did see that, thanks.
I know I'll catch hell for this, but I uninstalled SBSettings. I don't really use it.

    @ OP
I forgot another must have, at least for me.
Action Menu. Adds favorites and some other tweeks to your cursor controlled action menu for frequently used string of txt, for example userId's and (for some sites) the ability to past your password.
I know with iOS 5 they added keyboard shortcuts, but I had already been used to Action Menu.
I also found that stock iOS shortcuts never seem to let you input passwords, a dealbreaker for me and some of my verbose passwords.

One tip if you are using the 2.0 ver, if you're phone doesn't restart after using the absinth app on the phone after like an hour, then unplug your phone re-run the jailbreak from step one, but before you hit the absinth app again, unplug the phone then hit the app. If it's like mine, then it shouldn't take more than 2 min that way. (Do this at your own risk though, that's what I did to get mine to work, no guarantees that it will work for you)

No I'm talking about the page that comes down when you barely swipe down anywhere near the top

That was what I meant by the pull-down window. It happens with me occasionally.

So did you get it disabled after jailbreaking, TH55?

I initially had issues with my jailbreak. Had to do a backup in iTunes & wipe everything then setup as new. After that jailbreak was only a few minutes. The restore took about 45minutes.
